• Tool Selection:
• Cemented Carbide Tools:Due to the relatively low hardness of AL6063,cemented carbide tools are an ideal choice,as they can withstand higher cutting speeds and have a longer service life.
• Coated Tools:Coated cemented carbide tools,such as TiN(Titanium Nitride)or TiAlN(Titanium Aluminum Nitride),can enhance the wear resistance and heat resistance of the tools,making them suitable for high-speed cutting.
• Feed Rate:
• According to data,for general aluminum alloys(such as 6061,6063),the spindle speed for roughing can be set at 1500-2500 RPM,with a feed rate of about 0.15-0.3 mm/revolution.For finishing,the spindle speed can be increased to 3000-5000 RPM,with a feed rate reduced to 0.05-0.15 mm/revolution.
• When using coated tools,the spindle speed for roughing can reach 2000-3000 RPM,with a feed rate of 0.2-0.4 mm/revolution;for finishing,the spindle speed is 4000-6000 RPM,with a feed rate of 0.08-0.12 mm/revolution.
• Cutting Fluid:
• Selection of Cutting Fluid:According to data,the pH value of aluminum alloy cutting fluids should not be too high,with a range of 8.0-8.5 being appropriate.The cutting fluid should have good cleaning ability to remove formed chips from the cutting area and excellent cooling performance to ensure the shape,size,and machining accuracy of aluminum workpieces.
• Rust Inhibitors:Added rust inhibitors should have the ability to slow down corrosion and maintain stable pH values.It is best to choose rust inhibitors that can form a protective film on the workpiece surface,such as phosphates,sodium silicate,etc.
• Optimization of Cutting Parameters:
• Cutting Speed:The recommended cutting speed for aluminum alloys is 1600 meters/minute(data),which helps to increase material removal rate.
• Depth of Cut:For finishing,the recommended depth of cut is 0.5 mm(data),which helps to achieve better surface finish.
• Tool Maintenance:
• Regularly check the wear condition of the tools and replace worn tools in a timely manner to ensure machining quality.
• Machining Strategy:
• Step-by-step Machining:Break down complex processing into multiple simple steps,completing them gradually to reduce the burden on the tools.
• Reasonable Setting of Cutting Depth:Set the depth of each cut reasonably according to the material hardness and tool characteristics to avoid excessive wear.With the above strategies,it is possible to maximize the machining efficiency of AL6063 aluminum alloy while ensuring machining quality.
